The City Bank LNR is a hidden gem, providing a sanctuary for bats, birds and butterflies. In late spring southern marsh orchids can be seen flowering in the Old Nursery site and barn owls have been observed hunting in the long grass in the recreation area. Water voles, otters, kingfishers and dippers have also been seen in the River Churn which flows through the site.
