Talland have been very supportive of me throughout my career training. I have another training centre closer but chose to travel to Talland as it is friendlier, more open and better value for money. The team try their best to cater to all. I will keep going back.
Having recently sent a 15 year old, on her first time away anywhere on her own, to Talland for a week's intensive Training course. I must confess I was just the tiniest bit concerned beforehand. However, I really need not have worried. Everything went 100% smoothly from the organization side of things, a very efficient lady called Amber advised me competently before I booked, made great suggestions, and answered all my questions. The training holiday itself by far exceeded all expectations, on every level. If I was concerned that she might feel a bit out of her depth, this too was baseless. The career students took her under their wing and treated her like part of the group from day one, so she had an instant set of friends. I am sure her willingness to muck in and muck out and do chores helped with that. The room was typical student accommodation, basic, practical and clean. She absolutely raved about the food! Of course the most important part was the Riding, and also in this aspect Talland excelled. She had 2 or 3 lessons a day, a mix of group and private lessons plus a sidesaddle lesson and 2 lessons with the incredible Pammy Hutton herself. She felt she learned a lot from every horse and every instructor, all of whom made a point of striking the delicate balance of teaching her how to work on her weaknesses and at the same time letting her experience new things on the impeccably well trained and experienced schoolmaster horses. Of course she was put on a safe and possibly not the most exciting horse for her first lesson, but that is obviously only sensible. People arrive and the establishment doesn't know them from Adam. It would be silly and possibly detrimental to horse and rider to put them straight onto a more sensitive animal. She has not stopped talking about her experience since and when she competed the week after returning home, she rode her best ever tests by far for a first and second place, and her regular trainer was also much impressed with how much of a difference a week has made.I was so impressed I just booked her in for another week in May. I believe this is a place that suits those who truly want to learn and take that seriously.
I took several students to Talland for two weeks. What an experience! They were well received, well matched with horses and trainers and the school went above and beyond to give us the best training possible. Cant wait to organize another adventure with Talland!
Bad experience with my 10 year old daughter who spent in Talland a week in July, they are not structured for children, two riding classes of 45 min. + one lecture of 25 min + one English lesson per day, the rest of the time she and the other children were invited to go to their room and stay there because nobody was available to take care of them.
Me and my sis had such an amazing experience! Pammy was firm but had great sense of humour, she put us at ease the moment we walked in for our lesson...Can't wait for our next one!
